Sheer Thing

Always on the lookout for ways to beat the heat? Need we even ask what with the constant reminder that is the breeze of hot, humid air everywhere in Manila where an airconditioner is not present, the sweat that is better at dribbling than most of us will ever be, and just the many things that surround us that make us wish for a change in climate or a week's stay in Tagaytay, or any trick that will just make the scorching heat of Manila a little less of a heat at the least?

Look no further! We've got just what you need to feel a little cooler! Although if you're looking to just downright get to the bottom of it, we would advise to resort to the getaway option because cutout and sheer pieces... they just won't make the cut! But still, something is better than nothing, right? So get out of that fashion rut! Trade in your trusty shorts and tank tops for something more well-kept-looking but just as effective for these seemingly never-ending heat waves!

Wearing a sheer-only outfit should permit you to wear pieces with frills or layers or wraps as opposed to donning regular knits and other thicker and/or heavier fabrics. Basics are still good, but don't limit yourself to them. Play around with structures and colors. If it ever slips your mind that there is more out there than just plain chiffon sleeveless tops or lightweight minis, remember that there is more than just plain chiffon...yeah you get the point. Items structured to look more out-there are now more appropriate for casual looks because the sheer fabrics will do enough job to soften it out. It's easy to get your mind closed in on the sheer factor of your clothes that you forget all other factors that count to create a look out of creativity and style, so remember not to limit yourself.

Black and white combos are very flexible to style, but nonetheless always look very polished. It can give an edgy feel, a street vibe, a classic tone — practically anything (check out this post for more on styling black and white)! Although it's easy to get creative with it, it's also easy to end up with pieces that may be considered by others too plain. Among the many other aspects of a clothing item that can give you a range of choices in terms of what to wear to look effortlessly more stylish, try a piece with a framing pattern such as this skirt. Any pattern will add maybe a little oomph to your look, but a different kind, a framing kind, that's something else.

It's easy to just grab a comfy shirt and a pair of shorts when you just can't stand the heat and yet in a hurry. But ever thought of what other than the said combo can we wear during this inevitable weather? Anything airy doesn't have to be just that staple. The crop top and skirt combo is one trouble-free alternative and at the same time dressier than the shirt and shorts combo. You just hit two birds with one stone - relaxed but refined! Plus, have a piece (in this case, the crop top) that has a cutout or sheer to feel more breezy.
