Attending Summer Weddings

Have you just opened up an invite to a beach wedding this summer? Summer brings so many things: warm weather, beach vacations, sea breeze, and tan lines, but let's not forget it's the season of weddings too! While this may sound exciting, it may also leave you wondering what to wear to this special occasion. And we know that there are a few ground rules to dressing for summer weddings in order to look great, remain comfortable, yet formal enough for the said event.

Weddings give us the reason for celebration, but before the wedding bells ring, it's time to hunt for a great dress to wear to the special event! And it's not that easy. Wedding dress codes come with conditions — don't go too short, don't go too flashy, and don't wear white! To look wedding appropriate while still feeling comfortable in the sun, wind, and sand, opt for breathable fabrics and longer hemlines.

Here are some general tips for dressing for a summer wedding:

Length

If it's a strictly formal event, go for a long, elegant maxi dress. A maxi dress is loose fitting, especially around the bottom of the dress so it enables you to move freely. Semi-formal calls for short or knee length dresses, which are great because they won't drag in the sand, plus they transition beautifully to a reception venue held at a beach front hotel.

Fabric

If you are having a beach wedding, you are probably expecting plenty of sunshine, so make sure the fabric of your dress won't make you sweat. Light fabrics that do not stick to the skin are the best options. Materials like linen, chiffon, cotton blends, or lace are light but can still look chic. 

Color

Black would certainly look completely luxurious, but it absorbs heat so you may find yourself completely cooked! Colors like aquamarine blue, pastel pink, or pale yellow are all unique but appropriate tones. You may also opt for a patterned or printed dress perfect for a tropical feel. 

And let's not forget about the shoes! Wear shoes that you can easily slip on and off. Heels can work as long as they're blocked type of heels!
