Think your desk is starting to look a little too boring? We got you covered this school year! Let's make that plain corner of your room a bit more playful and colorful. Something has to brighten up your mood for school work. Maybe this is the solution to not fall asleep during your study sessions. Who knows if this might be all you need to get that A!
Our DIY project today is a tassel garland. You can place it on your headboard, above your desk, or on a blank wall... anywhere you wish! Let's get into it!
What you need:
- 10 sheets (or more) of assorted colored Japanese paper
- Scissors or a rotary cutter
- 2 m of twine or rope (it depends how long you're planning to make it)
- Clear sticky tape
- Cutting board (if you're using a rotary cutter)
Steps:
1. Take a sheet of Japanese paper and fold twice to form a smaller rectangle.
2. Orientate the long fold of the rectangle away from you on the cutting board. The open side should be facing you.
3. Cut the Japanese paper into 1 cm strips, leaving a centimeter at the top.
4. Unfold the rectangle and orientate the spine or uncut part of the Japanese paper toward you.
5. Carefully roll the spine up to form a roll of tassel with fringes on either side.
6. Use sticky tape to secure the roll.
7. Fold the tassel in half to create a single tassel.
9. Thread your string through this loop to attach the tassel to the twine.
10. Repeat the steps with the other sheets of Japanese paper.
11. Arrange the tassels on the twine, using tape to secure.
